The dancers here are not posing but are transitioning rhythmically from foot to foot as they experience and express their existence through the dance. The work is an exploration of performed introspection, a curious and ambiguous state.
Wordless Dialogue distills my female lineage with a focus on generational trauma. Ink pressed through mesh references the gold mining activities that were part of the colonisation of many lands and honours the invisible women who laboured on the fields. This work is held in the Royal College of Art Special Collections.
Research for this etching explored how women and children survived perilous and forced journeys from England to Australia in the early 1800's.
Wondercabinet explores how plants have been weaponised throughout history. Layers of political complexity have been captured in this colourful screenprint just as flowers and embellished handwritten letters have been used to disguise geopolitical power imbalances.
A supermarket Orchid and a Banksia cone become one in this hybrid plant which is pollinated by a weird moth from my imagination. They coexist uncomfortably under the light of the moon.
